The Congress offers a social programme every day to show you a little bit of London and the surrounding areas. Almost all tours depart from ExCeL. Tours will be accompanied by English speaking guides. Please note that timings and duration of the tours might be subject to change due to travel restrictions in London.’All tours can be booked when registering for the Congress. River Thames Cruise – option 1

See and experience the impressive sights of London from the River Thames. You will be taken on a coach from ExCeL to Greenwich and from there a boat will take you into Westminster Pier and then back to Greenwich. As the River Thames weaves its way through the heart of London there is history around every bend. You will pass iconic London sites such as Canary Wharf, the majestic Tower Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, London Eye, the Houses of Parliament and many more. Once back in Greenwich, the coach will then transport you back to ExCeL. There is a bar onboard from which you can buy light refreshments and snacks.

London Eye and Westminster Abbey

A flight on the London Eye is a breathtaking experience as you can see up to 40 kilometers in all directions of London’s skyline. As a result of this, it has become one of the most spectacular and popular attractions in the World, drawing visitors from far and wide.
The tour will then continue by foot onto Westminster Abbey for a guided tour through the traditional place of coronation and burial site of English monarchs.

The Globe Theatre and Tate Modern

This tour offers an introduction to some of London’s South Bank experiences, next to the River Thames. An English speaking guide will take you to The Globe Theatre and then on a short walk to Tate Modern. The Globe Theatre is a faithful reconstruction of the beautiful open-air playhouse first built in 1599, where Shakespeare worked and for which he wrote many of his greatest plays. Tate Modern is Britain's new national museum of modern art. Housed in the former impressive Bankside Power Station, Tate Modern displays international and contemporary art from 1900 to the present day, including major works by Dalí, Picasso, Matisse, and Warhol. Refreshments can be purchased within the Globe café or the Tate Modern café.

Since Edwardian times, the Georgian Restaurant at Harrods has been one of the most refined places in London to take afternoon tea. You then of course have the opportunity to explore the world’s most famous luxury department store.

Home to the Kings and Queens of Britain since the time of Henry VIII, Hampton Court Palace is one of the most famous visitor attractions in the country. It is outstandingly rich, beautiful and steeped in history. Highlights not to miss on this visit are the Chapel Royal; a beautiful chapel in continuous use for over 450 years, the Great Hall and the magnificent State Apartments of Henry VIII and William III. Then we recommend that you explore the 60 acres of immaculate riverside gardens and the Privy Garden, restored to its former glory. Lastly for a challenge and a bit of fun, why not lose yourself in the world famous maze. Lunch and refreshments can be purchased in one of the restaurants or cafés.

Hever Castle

Hever Castle is an important historic castle on the English landscape, set in picturesque countryside on the border of Kent and Sussex. It was the home of the family of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII, and is a delightful example of a small 14th century castle, surrounded by magnificent Italianate gardens. You will be able to enjoy your lunch in one of the two restaurants onsite, the Pavilion Restaurant near the lake and Italian gardens or the Moat Restaurant, over looking the castle.

A day in Cambridge will give you the opportunity to see to one of the world’s most famous universities, walk along the grounds of the colleges set by the river Cam and go inside Kings' College Chapel, which is world-famous for its magnificent choir. The university dates from the 12th century and a walk through the town reflects the glorious past of this beautiful city. Lunch could be enjoyed in one of the city’s many pubs, bars and restaurants.

London pubs are one of the city’s highlights and an historic London walk makes for a truly memorable and entertaining evening out. By focusing on a particular area of London you can really explore some truly fascinating places. You would make your own way to the starting point at Bank underground station and will then finish at St Paul's underground station. The walk goes at a gentle pace and if you fancy, there will be time to enjoy a sociable pint or two in one of the charming traditional pubs on the way. You are never rushed to finish your drink and your guide is able and willing to answer any questions you might have.
